The corporate mask
I went into the corporate world. Oil and gas. Big company. Long hours. Steady paychecks.
Twelve years is a long time to wear a mask and hide who you were really meant to be.
I spent 12 years in oil and gas, doing what I thought I was supposed to do. Good job, steady paycheck, stuck in a cubicle, but deep down, I knew I was meant to build something that mattered.
So I took a leap, and everything changed.
This short film honors the grit, sacrifice, and entrepreneurial bloodline that helped shape who I am today.
Watch Full ScreenA tribute to the family hustle, faith, and foundation that came before Wag’n World.
I grew up in a middle-class family, nothing flashy, just strong values, a real work ethic, and a dream to be great at something.
Even as a kid, I felt it. I knew I was different. I was creative in many ways, I loved animals and had this pull to build something that mattered, even before I knew what that “something” would be.
Both sides of my family are rooted in hustle. My great-grandparents immigrated to the United States from Sicily with nothing but grit, faith, and hope. Small shops. Local businesses. Honest work. That legacy is part of me.
So even when life looked fine on paper, something inside me kept saying, “You’re not meant to settle.”
The career was steady, but the purpose was missing.
I went into the corporate world. Oil and gas. Big company. Long hours. Steady paychecks.
Twelve years is a long time to wear a mask and hide who you were really meant to be.
Don’t get me wrong, it paid the bills. But it never paid me, not the real me.
I felt stuck. Trapped. Like I was living someone else’s life, and that feeling finally became too loud to ignore.
I’ve always loved dogs, but I didn’t know they would become my ticket to freedom, fulfillment, and fire.
One idea led to another. A few “what ifs” turned into “why nots.”
I left the corporate world behind, got a loan for a business, sold my house in Pearland, sold my car, and opened a little place called Wag’n World.
This photo feels like that moment to me, leaving one life behind and driving toward the one I was meant to build.
This is what building looked like before it looked like a brand, not perfect, not polished, but real.
Before multiple locations, before recognition, before thousands of dogs walked through the doors, there was simply belief.
No polished systems. No perfect roadmap. Just long days, uncertainty, sacrifice, and a dream that refused to leave me alone.
These early moments built the culture, energy, and heart behind what Wag’n World would eventually become.
There came a point where Wag’n World stopped feeling like just a business idea and started becoming something much bigger.
The risk became real. The responsibility became real. The mission became real.
Every challenge, every sleepless night, every difficult season shaped the vision that exists today, a place built on care, connection, community, and purpose.
Just heart, hustle, and a belief that Houston dogs and their people deserved better.
No big money backing me. No safety cushion. No one waiting to save the day.
No corporate playbook. No franchise support. No machine behind me telling me what to do.
Just a belief that dogs deserve more than basic care, and that pet parents deserve trust, transparency, and peace of mind.
Discipline, long hours, corporate pressure, and the realization that comfort was not the same as purpose.
A loan, a leap, a sold house, a sold car, and one dream that refused to go away.
No full kitchen, barking dogs, sleepless nights, and the kind of sacrifice most people never see.
More dogs, more families, more stories, and a mission that keeps getting bigger.
Wag’n World is thriving because of my family, my friends, my awesome staff, and most of all, the customers who believed in us and spread the word like fire.
Three locations. Countless pups. A real community built one tail wag at a time.
There were slow seasons. Financial scares. Days when I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life.
But I held on. I kept going. Because I remembered my roots. My great-grandparents didn’t have a safety net either. They just believed in what they were building, and I do too.
Wag’n WHATTT?! is where the Wag’n World story gets even more real, the laughs, the lessons, the dog daycare drama, the boarding truths, the grooming tips, the entrepreneurship, and the behind-the-scenes moments that built this doggy machine.
It is part podcast, part founder journal, part love letter to dogs, and part reminder that chasing a dream is messy, hilarious, terrifying, and worth it.
Wag’n World is a mission, to care, to connect, to make life better for dogs and their humans.
From the beginning, the goal was to create a safer, more active, more transparent dog care experience where dogs could play, rest, socialize, and be understood.
That means structured playgroups, thoughtful placement, live dog cameras, professional care, and a team that knows this is more than a job.
It means building a place where pet parents feel peace of mind, dogs feel at home, and employees feel proud of the experience they help create.
This is the care philosophy behind our Houston dog daycare, boarding, grooming, live cameras, small dog care, and structured playgroups.
Play should be intentional, supervised, and guided by people who understand size, temperament, comfort, and energy.
Live cameras and communication help families feel connected, informed, and confident while their dogs are with us.
A great dog care experience starts with a team that feels trained, supported, respected, and proud.
Evaluations, playgroups, grooming, boarding routines, and client communication all shape the Wag’n World experience.
Wag’n World exists because Houston dog families believed in the vision and continue to show up for us.
It is a mission to care, connect, laugh, grow, and make life better for dogs and the humans who love them.
Wag’n World proudly serves dog parents across Houston Heights, Montrose, River Oaks, Midtown, Rice Military, Washington Corridor, Garden Oaks, Oak Forest, Timbergrove, and nearby neighborhoods with dog daycare, overnight boarding, grooming, live dog cameras, small dog care, and structured playgroups.
Wag’n World is more than a company I started. It is a reflection of the risk I took, the sacrifices I made, the lessons I learned, and the dogs who remind me every single day why this work matters.
I built this from the ground up with no franchise behind me, no big corporate safety net, and no easy road to follow. Just faith, hustle, long days, hard decisions, and the belief that if I kept showing up, kept learning, and kept putting dogs and people first, something special could happen.
And I am still doing that today. I am still showing up. Still pushing. Still figuring things out. Still busting my tail to make ends meet, support my team, serve our clients, and keep building the kind of company Houston dog families can trust.
There have been moments that tested me in ways most people will never see. Financial pressure, slow seasons, sleepless nights, hard calls, and days where quitting would have been easier. But that has never been who I am. I do not give up when things get hard. I dig in, I adjust, I work harder, and I keep going.
I am incredibly proud of the family we have built, from our dedicated staff to the loyal clients who trust us with their dogs. Every challenge, every long day, and every step forward has shaped Wag’n World into what it is today.
My goal has always been simple, create a place where dogs are cared for with intention, pet parents feel confident, employees feel proud, and the Wag’n World name stands for heart, trust, and excellence.
If you made it this far, I already love you for being part of this journey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me, believing in Wag’n World, and supporting this dream as it continues to grow. We are just getting started.
